Soakin up the sun + outdoor workouts
Today was simply GORGEOUS in Boston! With a high of 70, not a cloud in the sky…you better believe I was out there soakin up the sun all day!
A few pics of my beloved city…
A view from our neighborhood park…
A view from Copley Square or "engagement square" as I like to call it.
One of the signs of spring…
You can always find characters and street performers…this guy was truly special.
I love these white statue performers. This gal was so interactive and sweet.
Ahhhh. What a beautiful day.
As I was walking down our favorite street I started thinking about new ways to take my workouts outside as the weather improves. There is no keeping me inside when the sun is out!
Some of my favorite outdoor workouts:
- Interval run/walks- set various times of intervals combined with recovery
- Rollerblading- something I want to try!
- Circuit training- walking lunges, followed by squats, jumping jacks and suicides
- Yoga by the water- no better way to stretch and practice calming the mind
- Hiking!
- Rock climbing- something I am dying to try!
- Track run
- Bleachers
- Pilates in the lawn
- House hunting on foot- used to do this every Sunday! We would cover miles and miles
- Uphill sprints- find the biggest hills in your area and sprint them! Then recover as you walk down. Repeat.
- Duck walks- walk normally at a brisk pace for 5 minutes to warm up, then do "duck walks" for 2. Squat in a sumo position with legs wide and toes pointed to the side. Keep your butt as close to 90 degrees as you can and take steps forward, while maintaining the same squat level. Wait for the burn!
Well friends, off to enjoy an evening outside! I think the grill is calling our name.
Be well!
