Workout RECAP!!!
Hello friends!!! How are ya on this fine Sunday?
A huge HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to each of you! Valentine's day is such a funny holiday…some people love it, soak it up and pull out unexpected romantic moves. Others bash it, think it is pointless and a great marketing scheme. My personal opinion? I like to use it as a day where I have a good excuse to tell those I love simply that…that I love them. I appreciate them and that they mean the world to me! Man, woman, mom, dad, friend, lover…this is just a good day to make them smile a bit more than they did yesterday.
So I realized today that I have not done a workout challenge recap since Thursday! I'm failing my vow to check in everyday! But I'm here and will give you a full run down of what's been happening in my world of exercise.
Friday
Oh this was a fabulous workout! It truly was one of those sweat sessions where I felt so freaking energized and spent all at the same time. I did yet another Turbo kickboxing workout. I heart thee so much. It felt AMAZING! I've been doing a ton of practicing while I workout for teaching so not only am I working out but I'm talking, yelling, motivating as though I have a class in front of me. If you could be here watching me I'm sure you would find it entertaining. All of this equates to bigger moves, more energy spent and tons of energy. You know what, there is nothing like that energy to me. It got me really pumped to get out there and start teaching some classes. Heal toe HEAL, will ya!!!!! I followed up my cardio with Chalean Extreme Burn 3. Oh this was fab. Afterwards I could barely walk. This circuit was focused on shoulders, butt and hamstrings. Lots of delt raises, squats, sumo squats and deadlifts. So good!
By 10pm Friday night my legs were aching. How you ever experienced that? They weren't sore yet but my muscles literally ached. Um..hello lactic acid, nice to meet ya. The best solution if you ever experience this kind of soreness?
1- drink a ton of water. There is nothing more therapeutic for your muscles than water. Try to drink at least 64 ounces on days where worked your body. Well, you should drink 64 ounces everyday but be more mindful on tough workout days.
2- take a warm bath with epsom salt. The warm bath will help relax and loosen those tight muscles = relief. But the magnesium in the salt is a great electrolyte that your body can absorb. This will help reduce inflammation and discomfort.
3- REST. Take it easy, don't push as hard the next day or if you are be sure to allow your body to recover with proper fuel and fluids.
Saturday
Can you guess? Another Turbo workout. I know, I'm currently obsessed. They make me happy and whenever I think about what workout I want to do..nothing excites me like Turbo, so I listen to that! Do you remember when I talked about finding your soulmate workout? If you don't, check out this post. Turbo truly is my soulmate workout. Here's how it works folks: find what motivates you. If you hate getting on a treadmil to run, why in the heck are you forcing yourself to do that? I know exercise can be tough as it pushes your mental and physical limits, but you should be loving what you're doing enough so that you will WANT to push yourself harder and for longer next time! Or if on any day you don't feel like pushing yourself harder, you should be having a blast doing whatever you are doing! Don't get on the bike or eliptical because someone says you should do that to be more fit..do it because in whatever way that works for you, it makes you feel good!
I thought Saturday was going to be a lower key workout because I was so sore but about 10 minutes into Turbo, I was in another world and I ended up exhausted, smiling and crazy sweaty afterwards! Love it!
Sunday
Cardio = walking. I have been spending a well deserved day with the fiance walking around in Boston. We've both been so busy these days, barely having time to do whatever the heck we wanted to. So that is exactly what we did today. Instead of taking time to go to the gym or do a video, we spent a good chunk of the day out and about enjoying our city! Perfection!
Well friends, it is time to go prepare the rest of our dinner. We are going a bit fancy tonight and decided to cook a lovely roast. So good on a cold night with a bunch of veggies on the side and some good wine.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend! See you tomorrow for Part 3 of my journey to health.
Till then!

Jenn,
I just want you to know that you've really been inspiring. Recently, I've been searching for something to make a difference in my life, and just at that time you started your blog, and I've been hooked. I've also taken your lead and just went online this evening and purchased the Chalean Extreme program, so in a few short days I'm going to start the 90 day challenge. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for sharing it's been really nice connecting with you through your blog.
What is Turbo kickboxing, if you don't mind me asking? Hope you had a great Valentine's Day!
Hey there!
It's a bit confusing
TurboJam is the at home DVD collection that Beachbody produces, the trainer in the videos is Chalene Johnson.
TurboKick is the gym fitness class that I am certified for that is a kickboxing workout. As an instructor I have TurboKick DVDs in order to learn the choreography but I also use them as a workout.
That's fantastic Deana! Thank you so much for the compliments.
You will LOVE Chalean Extreme. I'll email you to give you a sense of what to expect and all that fun stuff! Congrats!
I love hearing about your journey- can't wait to read part 3!
Hi Heather! Thanks so much. I debated for so long about putting my whole experience out there but it truly made me feel more empowered.
Love your blog by the way! You were a trooper for your Valentine run.
